About user accounts

User accounts are enabled in ProNest by default. When a user starts ProNest for the first time, a ProNest user account is created using their Windows user account. The next time they start ProNest, their login credentials are remembered and they are automatically logged in.

As a user runs ProNest, changes that they make in the database are tracked with Modified By and Date Modified information. In this way, basic tracking of user activity is available in ProNest.

ProNest and the web app

A ProNest user account can be used to log in to both the ProNest desktop application and the web app. Users log in to each application separately, using the same credentials.

Users may log in to the web app for several reasons:

  • Set up and use Production Manager
  • Back up or migrate a ProNest database
  • Set up ProNest user accounts
  • Set certain system preferences
